| Home Deconstruction Project |
CC's first major deconstruction project was
for a home in late 2009. We were low bid
(against regular demolition) for a city of
Ferndale home demolition project. We
brought the house to the ground in 2 weeks
and had the footings removed and the
property leveled by day 15.
From this 1000 square foot ranch home;
there were approximately 94 yards of total
building waste, of which, 56% was recycled,
18% is being reused and 26% went to the
landfill (% based on volume). If decon was
used on the 4154 ranch homes that were
demolished in metro Detroit for 2008
(SEMCOG) and only 60% was
reused/recycled that would equal 224,316
yards of waste not going to landfills. That is
a lot of truck loads.
